Joshua M. Liao, MD, MSc, FACP is the Associate Medical Director of Contracting and Value-Based Care at UW Medicine, where he is also the Director of the Value & Systems Science Lab in the UW Medicine Center for Scholarship in Patient Care Quality and Safety and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine. 

He is board-certified in internal medicine and trained at Brigham & Women’s Hospital where he was also a Clinical Fellow in Medicine at Harvard Medical School and completed a Medical Leadership Track focused on value-based care delivery. He is an Adjunct Senior Fellow at the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics in the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he obtained his health services and policy training. 

Dr. Liao's scholarly work focuses on how payment reform, delivery redesign, and clinician behavior contribute to value-based care transformation. He is also interested in prescription drug policy, evidence based medicine and the structural aspects of clinical practice and training.
